Heterozygotic advantage_____ Option 1: Results in the elimination of the deleterious recessive allele from the population, due to individuals with at least one dominant allele having the advantage. Option 2: Occurs when the most common allele in the population is selected for, so that heterozygotes are favored regardless of which allele is favored. Option 3: Selects against the dominant and recessive alleles in the population, resulting in the evolution of a third immediate allele in the population. Option 4: Can result in the retention of a deleterious recessive allele in the population, due to selection favoring heterozygotes which carry a copy of the recessive allele without expressing the recessive phenotype.
