Primary components of the human kidney include anatomical features such as: - Renal Cortex - Renal Medulla - Renal Pelvis - Nephrons The human urinary system consists of: - Kidneys (paired bean-shaped reddish-brown organs located on either side of the vertebrae) that filter blood - Renal Artery (brings blood to the kidney) - Renal Vein (takes blood away from the kidney) - Ureters (tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the urinary bladder) - Urinary Bladder (stores urine until it is expelled) - Urethra (tube that carries urine from the urinary bladder out of the body) The path of urine in the urinary system is as follows: - Kidneys - Ureters - Urinary Bladder - Urethra

What are the structures of the excretory system, in order, in the role of producing and eliminating urine?
Adi S.
Fill in the blanks below with the correct answers. Kidneys are the filters of the system. They control the essential balance between body salts and remove nitrogenous wastes, water, urea, nonvolatile foreign substances, excess salt, and excess water from the blood. The kidney is enclosed by connective tissue and is divided into an outer and an inner region. The outer region functions chiefly for water resorption. The liquid waste, urine, collected by the kidneys passes through the ureters to the urinary bladder. The urinary bladder is a strong muscular organ that stores the urine until it can be excreted via the urethra.
