An allele determines the probability that genetic drift will result in the allele's fixation: The higher the allele's frequency, the more likely it is that the allele will become fixed in the population. In addition, as one allele goes to fixation, the heterozygosity of the population decreases. The rate at which heterozygosity changes with genetic drift depends on the genetic diversity and remains constant.

When an allele becomes "fixed," this means that everyone in the population has it. When one of the alleles becomes fixed (frequency = 1), and the other one disappears (frequency = 0), what happens to heterozygosity?
