Chromatography results: A few things to note which are different from the video: 1. I used paper towels not filter paper. 2. I applied the pigments in a line not a dot. 2. Did the different solvents (Ethanol, nail polish remover (Acetone), mineral spirits) result in different chromatography patterns? If so, why?

Chromatography What is the basis for the different Rf results for the four plant pigments? Why did the pigments appear in the order that they did? Why do the photosynthetic parts of plants contain so many pigments? Cellular respiration and photosynthesis occur simultaneously in plants. Given this fact, how is it that the measures of floating spinach discs do not constitute a precise measurement of photosynthetic activity?
