What is meant by the term anemia? Anemia is said to exist when the total white blood cell is too low. Anemia exists when the platelet count is so low that blood does not clot as quickly as it should. There are only approximately four or five causes of anemia. Anemia is defined as a deficiency in the number of red blood cells and/or hemoglobin. Anemia always results from some very simple cause.
