'Which of the following happens when the parasympathetic defecation reflex is initiated? relaxation of the external anal sphincter relaxation of the rectum relaxation of the internal anal sphincter relaxation of the sigmoid colon'
The large intestine is wider in diameter and shorter in length compared to the small intestine. The first part of the large intestine is called the cecum, which includes a small projection called the vermiform appendix. The second part of the large intestine, known as the colon, is responsible for water absorption and the formation of feces. The final part of the large intestine is the rectum, which stores feces until defecation is initiated. The feces are then eliminated from the body through the relaxed muscles of the anus.
