When two different alleles are present at a locus, the organism is said to be heterozygous. What was Mendel able to conclude about a pea plant that was heterozygous at the locus for seed color? The seed color will always be green. The seed color will always match the maternal parent's seed color. The seed color may be impossible to predict and may or may not match a parent's seed color. The seeds may match the seed color of either parent or be a new, third color.

Gregor Mendel used pea plants that were heterozygous for each of two traits: seed color and seed shape. From these results, what did Mendel conclude? Traits are inherited as pairs, sets, or groups. Traits that are dominant mask traits that are recessive. Gametes carry one allele for each trait. Traits are passed independently of one another.

gregor mendel used pea plants that were heterozygous for each of two traits - seed color and seed shape - to generate a dihybrid cross. the phenotypic ratio of the resulting offspring was nine with round and yellow seeds, three with round and green seeds, three with wrinkled and yellow seeds, and one with wrinkled and green seeds. from these results, what cound mendel conclude? traits are inherited as pairs, sets,or groups, traits that are dominate mask traits that are recessive, gametes carry one allele for each trait or traits are passed independently of one another
In the F2 progeny where the recessive traits are expressed together, like wrinkled and green seeds, which of the following statements is true? Both alleles for the wrinkled and green traits are homozygous recessive. The wrinkled and green seeds are hiding the yellow and/or round traits. Plants with wrinkled and green seeds are not as healthy as plants with yellow and round seeds. If allowed to self-fertilize, the plants with wrinkled and green seeds can produce progeny with yellow and round seeds. When crossing pea plants, Mendel noticed that one of the parental traits would sometimes disappear in the the F1 generation, and could reappear in the next generation (F2). He concluded that one of the traits must be ________ over the other, thereby causing masking of one trait in the F1 generation. recessive dominant incompletely dominant co-dominant
