4. Where are most enzymes in the electron transport chain located in the mitochondria? 5. Compare OP in mitochondria with PP in chloroplast (similarity and differences (e.g. electron flow path, location of high [H+], etc.) 6. Briefly explain energy flow in cellular respiration (Hints: three stages).

1. In which part of the mitochondria do the protons build up in establishing the proton gradient? 2. Describe the purpose/function of each of the complexes in the electron transport chain. In which part of the mitochondria are the ETC complexes located? Include the ATP synthase as Complex V. 3. How is the Calvin cycle connected to the pentose phosphate pathway?

Identify the following: Cellular localization of the electron transport chain during cellular respiration. Energy that must increase and needed for the synthesis of glucose and other sugars in plants as well as the production of ATP from ADP. Number of pyruvate molecules derived from the hydrolysis of 3 glucose molecules. The resulting molecule(s) during the investment phase of Glycolysis. The substrate that is not produced during the non-oxidative phase of the pentose phosphate pathway The number of CO2 molecules liberated for each molecule of acetyl-CoA during oxidative decarboxylation reactions in TCA cycle.
Describe the main functions of the different components of the ATP synthase enzyme in the mitochondrion. A structurally similar enzyme is responsible for the acidification of lysosomes and endosomes. Given what you know about the mechanism of ATP synthesis, explain how this acidification might occur.
