The following ethical principles were identified to ensure that potential risks of harm are minimized for research participants: Beneficence. In the context of research this element is promoting well being. It refers to researcher's responsibility to maximize the potential benefits of the study for the participants. Non-maleficence. This ethical principle in research refers to the requirement to do no harm. Respect for persons. This element is reflecting that every person has the right for dignity and need to be respected. Justice. This ethical principle is reflecting fairness. Identify what actions can be taken by researchers (i.e. maintain confidentiality, integrity etc), in order to ensure the ethical approach to research participants as well meet the above ethical principles.
