Hi, welcome.
00:02
The purpose of this video is to address a question asking about what particular structures out of a list can be found in a cell membrane.
00:10
The list was cholesterol, carbohydrates, phospholipids, proteins, and nucleic acids.
00:16
So i'll kind of use my beautiful drawing here.
00:19
I just sketched at the bottom.
00:21
And i also put some colors next to the terms that are found in the cell membrane.
00:26
And there's one that is not.
00:27
Nucleic acids are not found in the cell membrane.
00:30
They're typically found inside the cell that would be in the nucleus dna, some rnas, and some rnas can also be found in the cytoplasm of the cell.
00:39
So going through our list, i have cholesterol labeled in green.
00:43
Cholesterol is found embedded, often in the cell membrane.
00:47
Its role, serves a couple of different purposes.
00:50
It allows these lipids to pack in a certain way, those phospholipids, which we'll get to.
00:54
It also allows for the flexibility, the fluidity of the cell membrane.
00:58
So that would be the one shown in green...
