Deletions, duplications, inversions, and translocations are examples of chromosomal mutations. Deletions occur when part of a chromosome is missing. Duplications occur when a chromosomal segment is present more than once on a chromosome. A translocation is the movement of a chromosomal segment to a different chromosome. Inversion results from a chromosome segment being turned around 180 degrees. These changes cause various symptoms that may occur together in syndromes.
