Hello everyone, and today we will be discussing low fat versus low carb diets and how each of them have different health effects.
00:09
So low fat and low carb diets can both promote weight loss generally, given that if you're in a deficit of calories, you'll lose weight.
00:18
You can do that on low fat, you can do that on low carb.
00:20
It really doesn't matter.
00:22
But low fat versus low carb diets definitely have different health effects associated with them.
00:30
Low fat diets indicate that you're consuming high carbs, most likely.
00:36
High carb.
00:39
Whereas low carb, as it indicates, oh, wait, indicates that you're consuming less carbs.
00:49
And not all carbs are made equal, especially when it comes to how easily they're digested.
00:57
For instance, monosaccharides such as glucose, on our saccharides example glucose and disaccharides or i'm just going to say die sacs example would be sucrose are easy to digest and these are found in baked goods donuts bread anything that has really simple carbs such as these bread you know pasta unless it's whole wheat pasta that's more difficult to digest bread, pasta, cake, donuts, you get the point.
01:52
And so these can raise your blood sugar because they're easily digested with minimal effort and they have a high glycemic index.
02:01
So things, sugars that are easily digested have an high glycemic index, high glycemic index, which a glycemic index ultimately shows how a food, how much a food spikes one's blood sugar.
02:21
So a high glycemic index, i shouldn't have made an arrow there, oh no, okay, equals spike in blood sugar...
