Which of the following is NOT a property of useful vectors? ? View Available Hint(s) They must have properties that allow their survival in the host cell. They must be able to self-replicate. They always contain only one gene. They must be small enough to allow them to be manipulated prior to injection.

Why do vectors need to be self replicating?
Maitreya E.
Which of the following is not a characteristic of a good vector (plasmid)? None of the above Plasmids can carry one or more resistance genes for antibiotics. Plasmids have an origin of replication so they can reproduce independently within the host cells. Vectors have been engineered to contain an MCS (multiple cloning site). Plasmids contain reporter genes that provide a visual indication of whether a cell contains a vector with an insert.
Sri K.
Plasmids are a suitable vector for gene cloning because (a) They are small circular DNA capable of integrating with host genome. (b) They have site for origin of replication. (c) They can be used as a shuttle between prokaryotes and eukaryotes. (d) They often carry antibiotic resistance genes.
