Indicate whether each renal function is associated with the process of producing urine or with other mechanisms. - Secreting the enzyme renin - Activation of vitamin D - Removal of nitrogenous wastes - Filtration of blood - Reduction of blood acidity - Release of erythropoietin - Blood volume regulation - Blood pressure regulation Renal Function That is Associated With Urine Production Renal Function That is NOT Associated With Urine Production

The kidneys function to maintain normal body fluid composition and pH by adjusting the composition of the urine being produced. The kidneys serve additional functions, including the production of the hormone renin that regulates red blood cell production. The kidneys help in blood pressure regulation by altering the volume of urine produced and by producing the enzyme aldosterone, which catalyzes the production of angiotensin II. The kidneys activate vitamin D, which then helps in the absorption of calcium from the digestive tract.
