So you are on an archaeological dig and you find two pelvic bones that are quite well preserved.
00:07
How will you determine if the bones are male or female? so i drew two very rough drawings of the pelvic bone.
00:16
You have the male and the female and we'll go over the differences.
00:19
So one big difference is the pelvic cavity.
00:22
But you have the males, which is a little more heart shaped.
00:27
And it's a lot deeper.
00:29
So they have a deeper pelvic cavity.
00:32
And the sacrum really helps with that because the sacrum for the males is a lot more anterior so that's the sacrum bone and then the females theirs is more circular and is a lot shallower and then you have the sacram which sits more posterior and then another big difference between them is the pelvic arch which is this angle right here in the front for a males, there's is a lot smaller angle.
01:21
So there's typically ranges from about 60 to 70 degrees, whereas the females is a lot wider.
01:29
And they tend to range from about 80 to 90 degrees on the pelvic arch.
01:35
I'm sorry, pubic arch...
