You work for a company that makes embedded systems for the transportation industry. There are about 150 employees with client computers that run Windows and Linux server applications. You have been asked to research CPUs for the following purposes: Server systems that will run Windows Server and Linux Client computers that will run Windows 10 and Linux Fedora Workstation Microcontrollers for the embedded systems Research and select three CPUs for each purpose. Specify a high-end, mid-range, and low-end CPU, listing what you think are the most important specifications for each. For example, in the past you might have specified the following for the server systems: High-end: Quad-Core Xeon 3200-series: 4 cores, \( 2.66 \mathrm{GHz}, 2 \) MB L2 Cache, and so forth Mid-range: Dual-Core Xeon 7000-series Low-end: Pentium III Xeon However, although this answer might have worked in 2005, it is not acceptable today because the CPU models are quite old. Please provide an answer using current technology.

Speeds The processor speed, in megahertz $(\mathrm{MHz}),$ of Intel processors during the period $1980-2010$ could be approximated by the following function of time $t$ in years since the start of $1980:{ }^{16}$ $$v(t)=\left\{\begin{array}{ll}8(1.22)^{t} & \text { if } 0 \leq t<16 \\400 t-6,200 & \text { if } 16 \leq t<25 \\3,800 & \text { if } 25 \leq t \leq 30\end{array}\right.$$ a. Evaluate $v(10), v(16),$ and $v(28) .$ Interpret the results. b. Write down a technology formula for $v$. c. Use technology to sketch the graph of $v$ and to generate a table of values for $v(t)$ with $t=0,2, \ldots, 30$. (Round values to two significant digits.) d. When, to the nearest year, did processor speeds reach 3 gigahertz ( 1 gigahertz $=1,000$ megahertz), according to the model?

Speeds The processor speed, in megahertz (MHz), of Intel processors during the period $1970-2000$ could be approximated by the following function of time $t$ in years since the start of $1970:^{17}$ $$v(t)=\left\{\begin{array}{ll}0.12 t^{2}+0.04 t+0.2 & \text { if } 0 \leq t<12 \\ 1.1(1.22)^{t} & \text { if } 12 \leq t<26 \\400 t-10,200 & \text { if } 26 \leq t \leq 30 .\end{array}\right.$$ a. Evaluate $v(2), v(12),$ and $v(28) .$ Interpret the results. b. Write down a technology formula for $v$. c. Use technology to sketch the graph of $v$ and to generate a table of values for $v(t)$ with $t=0,2, \ldots, 30$. (Round values to two significant digits.) d. When, to the nearest year, did processor speeds reach $500 \mathrm{MHz} ?$
The Hi-Tech Computer Company builds three types of computers: basic, upgrade, and high-power. Component requirements for each model are given below. (TABLE CANNOT COPY) A recent shipment of parts contained 125 peripheral cards, 40 processors, and 50 disk drives. How many of each computer model can be built if all the parts are to be used up?
