Area and Perimeter
In mathematics, the area of a shape or surface is a number representing the amount of "surface" of the shape or surface. For two-dimensional shapes or surfaces, area is usually defined as the number of square units needed to cover the shape or surface. For example, the area of a rectangle is the number of square units needed to cover it, and the area of a circle is the number of square units needed to surround it. The area is a special case of the volume of a three-dimensional shape or surface, and the surface area is a special case of the volume of a solid.
