Biography

I am a recent graduate who received his bachelor's from Colorado College in Physics an Environmental Emphasis. I decided to study Air Quality in Pico-Union and the Los Angeles area as a whole. During my internship at Crossroads C.A.C, I
created HYSPLIT trajectory and dispersion models to display how air pollutants will travel across Los Angeles. Furthermore, I investigated the usage of AERMOD, which is the modeling system preferred by the EPA. He hopes to implement the air quality monitoring systems in Green Alleys and display them in ArcGIS or on an app to bring Air Quality Awareness. I continue to help Crossroads C.A.C by investigating ways to create low-cost and efficient ways to create weather and air pollutant monitoring station that can hopefully be implemented into the Green Alley project. I am currently working as a Physics paraprofessional at Colorado College where
I continue to hone my skills as a Physicist as I prepare to move towards my masters and Ph.d. My performance during my undergrad was hindered by unexpected health problems that I faced. I hope to sharpen my skills as a problem solver as I develop a career. In my free time, I enjoy working on CNC machines, 3D printing, playing guitar, playing soccer, and exercise. If I'm given the opportunity to work with Numerade, I would like to make an impact on the education, confidence, and skills of students interested in STEM.

Shrinking Loop. A circular loop of flexible iron wire has an initial circumference of 165.0 $\mathrm{cm} /$ its circumference is decreasing at a constant rate of 12.0 $\mathrm{cm} / \mathrm{s}$ due to a tangential pull on the wire. The loop is in a constant, uniform magnetic field oriented perpendicular to the plane of the loop and with magnitude 0.500 T. (a) Find the emf induced in the loop at the instant when 9.0 s have passed. (b) Find the direction of the induced current in the loop as viewed looking along the direction of the magnetic field.

Suppose that you hear a clap of thunder 16.2 s after seeing the associated lightning stroke. The speed of sound waves in air is $343 \mathrm{m} / \mathrm{s}$, and the speed of light is $3.00 \times 10^{8} \mathrm{m} / \mathrm{s}$ How far are you from the lightning stroke?

A flowerpot is knocked off a balcony $20.0 \mathrm{m}$ above the sidewalk and falls toward an unsuspecting 1.75 -m-tall man who is standing below. How close to the sidewalk can the flower pot fall before it is too late for a warning shouted from the balcony to reach the man in time? Assume that below requires 0.300 s to respond to the warning. the man

The speed of sound in air (in $\mathrm{m} / \mathrm{s}$ ) depends on temperature according to the approximate expression
$$v=331.5+0.607 T_{\mathrm{C}}$$
where $T_{\mathrm{C}}$ is the Celsius temperature. In dry air the temperature decreases about $1^{\circ} \mathrm{C}$ for every $150 \mathrm{m}$ rise in altitude. (a) Assuming this change is constant up to an altitude of $9000 \mathrm{m},$ how long will it take the sound from an airplane flying at 9000 m to reach the ground on a day when the ground temperature is $30^{\circ} \mathrm{C} ?$ (b) What If? Compare this to the time interval required if the air were a constant $30^{\circ} \mathrm{C}$. Which time interval is longer?

A rescue plane flies horizontally at a constant speed searching for a disabled boat. When the plane is directly above the boat, the boat's crew blows a loud horn. By the time the plane's sound detector perceives the horn's sound, the plane has traveled a distance equal to half its altitude above the ocean. If it takes the sound 2.00 s to reach the plane, determine (a) the speed of the plane and (b) its altitude. Take the speed of sound to be $343 \mathrm{m} / \mathrm{s}$
