Biography

I have been a classroom teacher for over 30 years. I have taught courses from grade 6 - PreCalculus including those for advanced students and those designed for students who struggle. I was the district math coordinator for seven years. I have been honored by my district as an Outstanding Teacher of the Year. During the recent shut down, I have found I enjoy making videos for my classes. When this opportunity came via email, I thought I would give it a try.

For the following exercises, use this scenario: The population $P$ of an endangered species habitat for wolves is modeled by the function $P(x)=\frac{558}{1+54.8 e^{-0.42 x}},$ where $x$ is given in years.

Use the intersect feature to approximate the number of years it will take before the population of the
habitat reaches half its carrying capacity.
