Hey guys and welcome to another economics example where we're going to be talking some more about economic growth.
00:06
So we've discussed in a previous example how investing in girls ' education can be beneficial for economic growth because you are tapping into the other half of the workforce, which is a big part of economic growth, you know, the size of your workforce.
00:25
And education in general is just really good for economic growth.
00:31
So, if you are a less developed country, what could be some political and social tradeoffs of investing in female education? this question is pretty complicated.
00:45
So we'll try and keep it simple for this example.
00:48
So we'll give one political and one social tradeoff.
00:51
So the social tradeoff, we'll start with that, is easier.
00:56
A lot of research has been done, and it's especially with the females, that as they, become more educated, they will have less children because the, you know, the tradeoff for child rearing and caring for your child during the nine months is more if you're more educated.
01:16
So, you know, you could be caring for your child or you could be making, you know, minimum wage at a low education or even more money as your education increases.
01:26
So that's the general idea there.
01:28
So the social tradeoff for investing in fees.
01:33
Education down the line would be a lower population growth rate, which can eventually, you know, also affect your workforce, which is a decent part of gdp growth...
