Okay, so here is a lovely picture that really represents the differences between asexual reproduction and sexual reproduction.
00:08
Okay, so with asexual, a means without, so without two organisms coming together to reproduce.
00:17
This is essentially binary fission and a cell splits itself into two, okay, and they'll become identical.
00:24
So it could be on the cellular level, that's typically where we see it with bacteria.
00:28
It could also be in plants when we see things like budding, like potatoes will do that.
00:33
They'll have little buds off of them that could produce more potatoes, right? you can just like clip a little bit of it and replant it and it will just continue to reproduce.
00:41
You don't need two potato plants to do that.
00:43
You just need one.
00:45
Essentially, that's the big key here, is that asexual reproduction only needs one organism.
00:52
Okay.
00:52
And so an example here, you have one cell that has 50 chromosomes.
00:56
It will just flip right into two.
00:58
And each daughter cell has 50 chromosomes.
01:00
Easy, easy, be identical...
