Okay, so in humans, how do we know if something is an innate behavior or a learned behavior? how can we tell the difference? and this is pretty easy.
00:09
It's, were you born knowing how to do it? did you have to be taught? innate is like instinct.
00:15
You do not have to be taught how to do this, okay? it's essentially genetically hardwired.
00:23
And you see this in a lot of organisms.
00:25
But if we're thinking about humans, you don't have to be taught, okay? don't have to be taught.
00:33
That's how you can tell.
00:34
So an example, a really good example, is suckling in infants.
00:39
When a baby is born, they don't have to be taught how to suck.
00:43
They automatically know how to do it.
00:45
Okay.
00:46
That's hardwired into them.
00:48
It's survival.
00:49
No one has to teach a baby how to suck.
00:52
Okay.
00:53
That's an example of an innate behavior.
00:54
Another one is your reflex.
00:56
Okay.
00:56
And i'll put that here for examples.
01:04
Another example reflexes right no one has to teach you to move your hand from a hot stove you accidentally touch it you feel the pain your body moves your hand okay that's a reflex you don't have to no one is like hey that's really bad you shouldn't do that move your hand you don't have to be taught how to do that a learned behavior is exactly what it sounds like you have to be taught in some fashion okay it doesn't mean that you have to have another human exactly give you the instructions for something.
01:33
That is how you can be taught.
01:35
So talking potty training, things like that, that's all taught by another human, right? you talk to a baby...
