Today we're looking at chapter 7, question 8, which is talking about the differences between and more specifically the similarities between c4 and cam plants.

Now, this question wants to look at specifically what's happening with in these plants.

And the special thing to remember about these plants is cam plants are going to be things like cactuses or succulents things like that things that you think of when you think of plants that they don't if you were to keep them in your house they don't like to be watered often they like the and in the wild they would live in very hot dry places now c4 plants are similar in that c4 plants are not your stereotypical plants that you think of when you think of really hot dry areas, but c4 plants are also plants that are going to be well adapted to living in moderately drier climates.

These plants can deal with drier weather better than most plants can, but they're not going to be what you generally think of right away when you think of.

Now, this question, like i said, wants to know specifically what's similar between these two types of plants versus potentially our third type, c3 plants, which is most plants.

And the only big difference between c4 and cam, or the only big difference between c4 and c3 is how they get in to the calvin cycle.

Now, c3 plants go straight into the calvin cycle by using rubisco to fix co2 into a three carbon compound.

And they can do this because they live in areas where it's generally good weather.

It's not too hot, not too dry, so they can sit there all day, stomata open, doing gas exchange, and they have free access to as much co2 as they need to do this...
