Hi, everyone.
00:01
So for this question, we're going to be talking about psychologist's views of memories and just some things that they might typically disagree on.
00:13
Memories can be particularly tricky, especially in the field of psychology, right, because since it can deal with a lot of people who've been through abuse, harassment, and since memories can be from so long ago, this can be really tricky because it can intersect with the legal field.
00:28
Someone might come into a psychologist's office for help of a memory of sexual harassment from 30 years ago from when they were very young.
00:37
And that raises a bunch of questions of how reliable is the memory.
00:41
What can be done about the situation 30 years after the fact? can the perpetrator, if it's true, can they be punished? should they be punished after the fact? again, is the memory reliable enough for anything to come of it? so all these sorts of issues come up and can be really problematic, particularly for people who need help.

And from all this, there's also been some disagreement between psychologists about what happens with these kinds of memories...
