Today we are learning about the eye.
00:03
We are going to focus on three main structures, the cornea, the pupil, and the iris.
00:13
There are many more structures to the eye, but we're just going to focus on these three today.
00:19
The cornea, which is the outermost layer and is clear, is kind of like a magnifying glass.
00:26
If you've ever used a magnifying glass before and went outside with it, you may have noticed that if you change the angle, to which you hold the glass, you'll also change where the light goes.
00:38
That's because the glass in the magnifying glass changes the angle of the sunlight, which is actually what the cornea does as well.
00:47
The cornea takes the sunlight from the sun and then changes the angle, so it actually reaches a part of the eye that needs it to see.
00:55
That part of the eye is called the pupil, and we see it as a dark circular structure that allows, this light to enter.
01:06
It's black because the tissue that it's that makes up the pupil actually absorbs all of that sunlight.
01:16
However, as you may have already learned in your past experience, you really shouldn't stare at the sun and when you're outside your parents might ask you to wear some sunglasses, right? that's because that tissue in your eye still is quite sensitive and we don't want too much light to enter it.
01:34
Otherwise we may it get some sort of damage.
01:37
That is what the iris is for.
01:39
The iris is that colorful part of your eye can be blue, brown, green, hazel.
01:46
There's so many different colors and variation of eye color.
01:49
They're really beautiful, but they're not just beautiful.
01:51
They have this wonderful, wonderful purpose that controls how much light enters the eye...
