So our question is asking about the maximum number of individuals an area can sustain or can hold and support.

Now, carrying capacity can be impacted by a few things.

For example, it could be impacted by population sizes.

It could be impacted by the resources available.

It could be impacted by the type of reproduction, reproductive strategy, whether it is r or k.

And there are other things that can impact this, but let's talk about what specifically carrying capacity is.

When we start off with growth in a population, it usually starts pretty slow, and it gradually increases over time, and then it starts to do what we call exponential growth.

So it grows very rapidly in a short amount of time.

And so if we say that time is along the bottom here, and let's go back a little bit on our graph here.
