For example, in some high-resolution formats, SACD uses a one-bit DSD system at a very high sample rate resulting in bitrates around 2.8224 Mbps per channel, whereas DVD-Audio, which typically uses PCM encoding, supports multiple bitrates that can reach up to or exceed 9.6 Mbps depending on the resolution and channel configuration.
Multi-Channel Audio and Surround Sound Support
Multi-channel audio support, including surround sound, is a critical aspect of high-fidelity audio formats. Both SACD and DVD-A have provisions for delivering immersive sound experiences, but they do so through different encoding methods and capacities.
