00:01 So this question here is asking us to list the characteristics of the four major groups of plants and then provide an example of a plant within each of those four groups.

00:12 So we'll go ahead and we'll go over the four groups of plants here.

00:15 So the four groups of plants are going to start with our bryophytes.

00:22 Our bryophytes, right? our bryophytes.

00:29 Our bryophytes are kind of our mosses and things like, like that, they're not going to laugh.

00:38 They don't have complex vascular tissue, so they're not very good at transporting water long distances.

00:48 So a lot of these plants are going to be low down on the ground.

00:58 And they're going to have to be in wet places.

01:01 Because again, they aren't very good at moving water around their body.

01:04 So their entire body really has to be low down to the ground in a wet place where they can really absorb water.

01:14 Another really important characteristic about bryophytes is another reason they have to be in a wet environment is that their gametes require water to move and to perform fertilization.

01:42 And one major example of a bryophyte is going to be moss, right? any type of moss that you're going to see growing on the ground is going to be a classic bryophyte.

02:11 And the major characteristic of vascular plants, as you might guess, is that they have complex vascular systems that can transport water.

02:33 Another characteristic of vascular plants is that they still require water, at least for part of the year, for their gammies, to be able to move around and fertilize, perform fertilization and complete that life cycle of the plants.
