All fungi have some common features.

Here are listed, the two common features that are found in all fungi.

So first of all, fungi, lack of chlorophyll molecules.

They are the pigment that are responsible for photosynthesis.

So in another word, fungi are considered as heterotropes because they cannot synthesize chemical energy from the sunlight, and so they have to live upon other organisms to get their nutrients.

Another common feature that shared by all fungi is that their cell wall contains a polysaccharide chytin for structure support.

And this is different from plant cells.

Planned cell wall contains a different polysaccharide, which is cellulose.

So, so the best characteristic to differentiate these fungi are the way they reproduce.

Some of them reproduce sexually, some of them reproduce asexually, and obviously they have different structures during the reproduction.
