Hello everyone.
00:02
I hope you all are doing well and today i'll be helping you with the first problem of the chapter 41 problem set and so this question is asking which answer is part of the definition of sexual reproduction so how i would start off is i would try to define sexual reproduction so what it what is this? so what you have to know is sexual reproduction typically has two partners a male and a female and what it does is it does genetic reshuffling due to meiosis and what myosis does is it forms sex cells which are also known as gametes and then these gametes will come together to form the offspring so going through these answers i would do this by process of elimination so if we start with a we see it says separate male and female parents so it doesn't not actually have to although i did say that typically there are male and female parents it is not a requirement for that to be a part of sexual reproduction because there are hermaphrodites that have both male and female parts.
01:11
So that in that instance, they are not separate, but they can still reproduce.
01:16
So we can deduce that this is false due to hermaphrodites.
01:22
And i like to do this because it also helps you learn.
01:27
It helps you get to know the subject better.
01:28
If you're able to notice the reason why, then you can also connect.
01:32
A lot more information.
01:34
So a requirement is the production of gametes.
01:36
Well, this is true because without gametes, then sexual reproduction cannot occur because then they're not two different gametes to come together to form the offspring.
01:46
And then c, it says optimal environment conditions.
01:49
This is false because it's false because it's not a requirement because even in terrible conditions animals will reproduce and the genetic variation actually will help with this.
02:03
Because if there are unfavorable environment conditions, then certain traits will survive and will be better fit for an animal to survive, which will bring out the natural selection part of genetics, and it'll actually reveal which traits are more favorable, and those more favorable traits will then yield, will be bigger in the gene pool due to unfavorable environment.
02:28
So that's not a requirement.
02:29
And then d is, it has to be an aquatic environment, which is false because typically a lot of sexual reproduction, well, occurs on land and in aquatic environment, so it's not a requirement because there are animals like us humans that do reproduce on land...
