Gauss' law for gravitational fields looks like ∢ g · dA = 4πGm_enclosed. Please denote the earth's radius as re. Note that m_enclosed = ∫ ρ dτ where I would like you to assume uniform mass density. In terms of these constants, at what radius inside the earth will the strength of gravity be half the value it is on the surface? If you do it correctly you should not need the numerical constants.
