2. What competitive advantages or barriers to entry are most important in generating growth opportunities
for the industry? (SWOT Analysis)
3. Which company has better growth opportunities? Justify your response.
4. Which stock is better to buy? Justify your response.
Note:
Remember, stocks of growth companies are not necessarily growth stocks, and good stocks are not
necessarily stocks of good companies.
EXAMPLE
The following example was conducted on the supermarket industry. The three companies researched are
Costco (COST), Whole Foods (WFM), and Walmart (WMY). The following are simple discussion points. It is
important that you expand on the main concepts and ideas in your answer.
Competitive advantages or barriers to entry that are most relevant to the industry:
? Purchasing power due to volume of purchases and wide or narrow range of products,
• Technology, and
? Business model, such as membership dues.
