Texts: RESEARCH
Research two to three companies from the same industry. Complete the Golden Gate template by entering the relevant data pertaining to the two or three companies you have selected.
Access company data from www.morningstar.com.
Note that, inevitably, some data will be missing. This is a general problem, also facing professional analysts. Analyze with data you find on Morningstar.com. You need not fill every cell in my template. If you cannot find a data item there, you need not search further.
QUESTIONS
1. What are the competitive advantages or barriers to entry that are most relevant to the industry?
2. What competitive advantages or barriers to entry are most important in generating growth opportunities for the industry? (SWOT Analysis)
3. Which company has better growth opportunities? Justify your response.
4. Which stock is better to buy? Justify your response.
Note:
Remember, stocks of growth companies are not necessarily growth stocks, and good stocks are not necessarily stocks of good companies.
