An electric vehicle is being designed that uses a 7 HP alternating current electric motor for its propulsion due to its low cost and high performance. Because it is an alternating current motor, it rotates linearly depending on the frequency of the supply current, that is, when it is fed with 60 Hz the motor rotates at 3600 RPM. In order to vary the motor speed, a frequency inverter is required that has a range of 10 Hz to 90 Hz and a voltage variation of 50 VAC RMS to 120 VAC RMS. The voltage reference will be obtained from a DAC inside a microcontroller, having a maximum voltage at the output of 5 Vpp. Power is from a bank of 14 13.5 Volt Li-Ion batteries.
