Title: The Lower Social Class Resource Inequality and Academic Performance
An article by Leon G. & Valdivia, M. (2015)
Regarding the Inequality in school resource and academic achievement, explores the critical issue of educational equity in Peru, shedding light on the relationship between disparities in school resources and academic performance among students. Peru, like many other developing nations, faces challenges in ensuring equitable access to quality education for all its citizens. The article reveals significant disparities in school resources across different regions of Peru. Schools in wealthier urban areas tend to have better infrastructure, well-trained teachers, and access to modern teaching materials and technology, while schools in rural or economically disadvantaged areas often struggle with limited resources. It is probable that the study finds a direct correlation between the level of resources available in schools and academic achievement. Hence, students attending schools with more resources tend to perform better academically compared to those in resource-deprived schools. This highlights the critical role of school resources in shaping student outcomes.
A study by Chiu, & Khoo, L. (2005) examined how resources, distribution inequality, and biases toward privileged students affected academic performance. Fifteen-year-olds from 41 countries completed a questionnaire and tests in mathematics, reading, and science. Multilevel regression analyses showed that students scored higher in all subjects when they had more resources in their country, family, or school. Students in countries with higher inequality clustering of privileged students, or unequal distribution of certified teachers typically had lower scores. Distribution inequality favored privileged students, in that schools with more privileged students typically had more resources. Overall, students scored lower when parent job country. These results suggest that equal opportunity is linked to higher overall student achievement. The essential economic role of education implies that unequal education can be a driver of unequal outcomes between different groups in society. What is more, educational inequality is at the root of low social mobility across generations. Opportunities inequality will be more persistent across generational nature and determinants of educational inequity iseret. Overall economic inequality and of the distribution of economic resources (BIanden et al. 2022).
