A power system consists of one perfectly reliable
generating station A and two substations B and
C connected as shown in Fig. 7.The fault tree
diagram for this system is shown in Fig.8 with
system failure as a top event. Determine the
probability of the system failure (top event), if all
basic events and events are statistically
independent and mutually exclusive. The
probabilities of the basic events are estimated to
be: P (1) = 0.05, P (2) = 0.05, P(3) = 0.12, P (4) =
0.10 and P (5) = 0.10.
