The following six questions are part of an unfolding case study. Review the case history and answer the question that follows.
Chrystyn Kapitonova (pronouns she/her/hers), 34 years old, is engaged to be married next month. This is her second marriage after being divorced for five years. Her fiancé, who has never been married, invited his parents to town to meet her and help finalize the wedding plans. He told her that his parents have traditional thoughts on marriage and do not condone divorce but are supportive of their marriage. Over the past seven months, Chrystyn has become increasingly distraught about meeting her fiancé's parents and has persistent thoughts about making alternate plans to avoid the meeting and calling off the wedding.
On the day of the visit, Chrystyn’s fiancé asked her to pick up his parents at the airport. Just before entering the airport terminal, Chrystyn became paralyzed with fear. She called her fiancé and told him that her car had broken down and she could not pick up his parents. She also told him the wedding plans were off.
