The purpose of this video is to look at what's called direct versus indirect animal development.

So we have two different types here, and i have some examples of each, along with some descriptions.

So let's start with direct development.

So direct development is basically a great example.

It would be humans.

I have a picture of giraffes below as well.

Direct development is often shown in mammals, reptiles, and birds.

Where basically when the young are born or in reptiles, they would be in birds, they would be hatched from an egg.

They're going to be very similar to the adult form.

In other words, you could look at an adult in a young, and they're going to look very, very similar.

For example, my picture down here of the giraffes, you know, that young giraffe just born looks very similar to the adult.

The only difference is in size and a few other differences.

So basically in direct development, there's no metamorphosis.

There's really only growth that is the difference between the adult and the young...
