A lot of this content felt generally familiar or related to lots of things I do. Growing up with technology and social media, I have personal connections and can personally relate to these topics and ideas. It was nice to be able to learn new things that connect with other topics I know. The idea of network individualism was new for me, and it was interesting. I’ve never thought that when individuals are logging in online with separate accounts, they are logging on to pursue individual lives. While the idea is simple, I have never thought about it that way. To me, that idea can make social media very isolating because everyone is individual. But, actually, I think social media can be very connecting. And it is beautiful how we log on by ourselves and can make connections with others and feel that connection. This relates to a quote I highlighted that said, “Household members act more like individuals in networks and less like members of a solitary family.” I do agree with this.
