Balance a ration for a pig to contain 15% crude protein, 0.5% phosphorus, and 0.6% calcium. Leave 3% initially for vitamins and minerals, and use corn, sorghum, and soybean meals. Include 20% sorghum, 0.50% salt, and vitamins at 10 pounds/ton and trace mineral premix at 2 pounds/ton. Add extra corn (on the "other" line) to finish filling the slack space. Calculate the % TDN in the ration.
To save time, you DON'T have to calculate the amount of Dical and Limestone - merely show how by setting up the equations. Then use the following figures: Dical = 0.93, Limestone = 0.88
Feedstuff Analysis (%):
Feed CP Ca P TDN DM
Corn 9 0.02 0.28 90 88
Sorghum 8 0.02 0.27 86 30
SBM 44 0.25 0.60 85 90
Dical 0 22.0 18.5 0 100
Limestone 0 38.0 0 0 100
