What's the difference between asexual and sexual reproduction? What are the advantages and disadvantages of sexual reproduction vs. asexual reproduction?
Use these terms: Gamete, Zygote, Diploid, haploid, homologous pairs / homologues
Why do cells divide with meiosis? Explain what happens in each stage of meiosis (Interphase I, prophase I, metaphase I, etc all the way through cytokinesis II). For each stage, describe the major events, explain if the cell is haploid or diploid, and explain how many chromatids on each chromosome. Compare and contrast the steps of meiosis with those of mitosis.
What's different between interphase I and interphase II? What's different between metaphase I and metaphase II? What's different between anaphase I and anaphase II?
Describe and explain the three ways that sexual reproduction creates variation (including crossing over and independent assortment).
Compare cell division with mitosis and meiosis. How do the daughter cells of each process differ? What are each used for? Which cells in your body form by mitosis and which form by meiosis?
