Diarrhea from infection or malnutrition is the world's most prevalent killer of children. A 2-month-old girl develops chronic diarrhea and liver inflammation in early infancy when the mother begins using formula that includes corn syrup. Evaluation of the child demonstrates sensitivity to fructose in the diet. 1) Name other common food materials that need to be avoided AND those that can be allowed when feeding or treating her and explain the reason. 2) Hereditary fructose intolerance is typically caused by deficiency of a liver enzyme. Name this enzyme and its function relevant to fructose.

A newborn baby has symptoms such as intestinal colic, diarrhea, and regurgitations after feeding. The activity of sucrase is reduced. sucrase α-dextrinase α-glucosidase lactase α-amylase Lipids in a patient's diet are found to resist becoming soluble in aqueous bodily fluids. What is the likely problem with this patient's digestion of foods containing lipids? Lipids are not digestible. Amylases cannot degrade large lipid droplets. Lipids are not exposed to bile salts. Lipases cannot degrade large lipid droplets. Lipid droplets cannot be converted into an emulsion. A young child with normal development had diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain after eating. Exclusion of milk from the diet did not give a positive result. After feeding with sucrose, the level of glucose in the blood barely increased. Why could such symptoms occur? hereditary insufficiency of sucrase secondary lactase deficiency hereditary lactase deficiency disorders of transporters deficiency of amylase

Hereditary Fructose intolerance is caused by an aldolase B deficiency and is characterized by vomiting shortly after fructose ingestion. Please explain in your own words what would be the effect at a molecular level on a person with such a condition and fructose and glucose metabolism. In particular refer to what happen to a person who has been fasting from glucose and ingests fructose.
Symptoms of food poisoning differ from food infection in that while both present with diarrhea, Choose one: A. Food poisoning symptoms will be resolved with antibiotics. B. Symptoms of food poisoning occur within 2–6 hours of ingestion, and those of food infection take 12–24 hours to appear. C. Food poisoning is accompanied by bleeding in the stool. D. The symptoms of food poisoning last considerably longer than those of food infection.
