Part C - Lowering Calories by Choosing Foods with Few Empty Calories
While fat and sugar are necessary components of a healthy diet, it is important to limit intake of empty calories from added sugars and solid fats that provide little to no additional nutrients. Choose whole foods like fruits and vegetables, carefully consider condiments and packaged foods before purchasing them, control portions, and use cooking methods that limit added fats and retain as many nutrients as possible.
