We spent a lot of class talking about energy. Prepare what could be a small text book section that connects the role of energy across at least three levels of biological organization. You should focus on a very specific example that spans all three levels. You should connect how the energy flow (processing) at one level affects, or is effected by, the energy flow at other levels. For example, you might discuss the morphological features that help your specific organism obtain energy (and in what form), how a specific cell in that organism processes that energy, and what the cell does chemically with that energy it processed. That answer would include the organizational levels of organismal, cellular, and molecular. Chapter 1 in your book lists the levels of biological organization. Be sure to identify the form of the energy at each level. Be as specific as possible. NOTE: I want you to give very specific details (e.g. what species? What kind of cell? etc), but you have a lot of creative license. I do not expect you to deeply research your species - in fact, you can make up an organism if you want as long as you classify it properly, at least by Kingdom. I’m most interested in you making the connections across levels. Everything you need to answer this question we discussed in class or is in your book.

00:01 To answer a question scientifically, then you're going to have to go through the process of observation, experimentation, things like that.
00:06 So we're going to build a hypothesis experiment control based on what we know.
00:13 So first off, what you want to do is build a hypothesis, which is essentially just something that is measurable and is a relationship of two things.
00:36 So i'm going to to use an example for this to make it make sense.
00:39 So an example of a hypothesis might be that you believe adding fertilizer to plants will increase their growth.
01:00 So there's two variables here and this is a measurable thing.
01:05 That's very important.
01:07 So the measurable aspect of this is the plant growth.
01:11 It's very easy to measure plant growth.
01:13 You know you can use a ruler.
01:15 You can determine and if you want to do height or width, but overall you can have numbers that are easily measurable and repeatable.
01:24 Now the relationship of two variables is distinct because we are looking at what's called an independent variable versus a dependent variable.
01:33 So you think that adding fertilizer is going to change the way a plant behaves.
01:38 So your addition of fertilizer, what you you choose to do is called the independent variable.
01:48 And what you expect to happen as a result, what you're going to be measuring is your dependent variable.
01:58 And so when you graph your results, when you talk about your results, you're going to refer to this independent and dependent variable a lot.
