Texts: Exercises to improve familiarity with Guidance in ASC 820: cite the source for all responses. Through a business combination, a company acquires a 2-acre grass field that is currently used to grow corn. The company understands that other companies might use the field as a parking lot. In estimating the fair value of the land, which use should be considered? Describe the fair value measurement principle that you would consider in evaluating this issue.

Step 1: According to ASC 820, also known as the Fair Value Measurement standard, the fair value of an asset should reflect the price that would be received to sell the asset in an orderly transaction between market participants at the measurement date. Show more…

) Use the empirical rule to estimate the number of farms whose land and building values per acre are between 1500 $ and $.1700 farms (Round to the nearest whole number as needed.)

A N-fertiliser rate trial consisted of four rates including a control (0, 50, 100, and 150 kg/ha), assigned randomly to five field plots in a randomized complete block randomized experiment design. The resulting maize grain yields (t/ha) are shown in the table below: Block | 0 kg/ha | 50 kg/ha | 100 kg/ha | 150 kg/ha ---|---|---|---|--- I | 1.2 | 1.5 | 2.5 | 2.0 II | 1.1 | 1.7 | 2.7 | 2.2 III | 1.3 | 1.8 | 2.8 | 2.3 IV | 1.0 | 1.6 | 2.6 | 2.1 V | 1.2 | 1.7 | 2.7 | 2.0 a. Carry out an analysis of variance to investigate whether there were any differences in the grain yield of maize grown under different levels of N fertilizer. State your null hypothesis and your conclusions. (10 Marks) b. Did blocking succeed in removing the effects of suspected variability within the trial area? Explain your answer. (2 Marks) c. Carry out mean comparisons using least significant differences and recommend the N application rate for maize farmer? (8 Marks)

Purpose: Understand some consequences of the finite land area of Earth. Let's start with how we measure land. While we use acres and square miles here in the US, land area is more typically measured in hectares around the world. There are about 150 million km² of land on Earth and about 7 billion humans. 2.6 km² = 1 mi² = 640 acres = 260 hectares 1 acre = 0.4 hectares 1 hectare = 2.47 acres What is the land area of Earth in square miles? In acres? In hectares? If Earth's land was equally divided among its peoples, what would your fair share be in acres? In hectares? Your acres of land include some desert, mountains, and frozen wasteland, of course. They are not all productive land. And you need to contribute some of your land for public goods such as roads, etc. What else will you have to donate parts of your acres for? Try to think of five important things that you must donate land for, starting with "forests" because we need.
