This is a Snellen Eye Chart. It is used to test visual acuity by having the client stand 20 feet away from the full sized chart and read as far down as they can. The client can be asked to read lines backwards as well to prevent them from memorizing the letter on a line. (note it is not full sized and should not be used to assess anything at this size) E 1 20/200 FP 2 20/100 TOZ 3 20/70 LPED 4 20/50 PECFD 5 20/40 EDFCZP 6 20/30 FELOPZD 7 20/25 DEFPOTEC 8 20/20 LEFODPCT 9 FDPLTCEO 10 PEZOLCFTD 11 On testing a client's visual acuity, you determine that the lowest row they can read is row 5. What does this mean? Their vision is 20/20. They can see at 20 feet what a typical person can see at 20 feet. Their vision is 20/40. They can see at 20 feet what a typical person can see at 40 feet. Optometrists quantify the resolution of a patient's vision using a concept called visual acuity, which is calculated as the inverse of the angular resolution of the eye measured in arc minutes (where 60 arc minutes $=1^{\circ}$ ) under standard illumination (i.e., in a normal room). The visual acuity of a typical person with normal eyesight is 1.0 in these units. a. What is the visual acuity of a person who can just barely resolve two tiny objects separated by 1.0 $\mathrm{mm}$ at a distance of $35 \mathrm{cm} ?$ (These objects might be two small features on a printed page.) b. Is this person's visual acuity better or worse than the normal value mentioned above?

Why Is the Sky Blue?
$? 20 / 20$ vision " is an arbitrary measure of vision $-$ meaning that you can read what an average person can read at a distance of 20 feet in daylight. What is this distance in meters?
