Vision (25 points)
A) Detail the structure and individual components of the retina and the signal pathway of how light hitting rods creates action potentials that can be sent to the LGN.
B) Describe the neural mechanism for lateral inhibition (i.e., describe the mechanism of the optical illusion provided above).
C) Describe and diagram the pathway and specific cell types that are needed to convey a visual signal from the ganglion cells in the retina to the LGN, the visual cortex, and lastly, the visual association cortex. Include in your answer labels of which pathways modulate visual signaling for color, motion/stereo vision, and form/orientation.
