Although the social clock for women is now (in recent decades) very similar to the social clock for men, one important difference noted in Module 2 is:
- Women's timing of a first child is much earlier in life compared to men's timing of a first child.
- Women's timing of ending their education is much later in life compared to men's timing of ending their education.
- Women are more likely than men to experience biological senescence.
- Women's timing of leaving home (i.e., not residing with parents) is much sooner in life compared to men's timing of leaving home.
