Biography

Hello,

My name is Stepfan and my main math tutoring experience was when I was a calculus tutorial leader for UC Irvine for three years helping UC Irvine students taking calculus. I have also done private tutoring with a high school junior taking calculus AB during my senior year. In these sessions, I helped with providing a lot of algebra support and review of core foundational algebra concepts needed to do well in calculus. I have also substitute taught students taking algebra 2 and precalculus students and even passed all 3 Math CSETs, which allows me to go for my teacher credential if I would like to in the future.

If you like, feel free to check out my portfolio website to see what I have done in the past and the lessons/presentations I made for my UCI LARC calculus 2 students: https://sites.google.com/uci.edu/teach/home

Graph the functions in Exercises 9 and $10 .$ Then answer these questions.
a. What are the domain and range of $f ?$
b. At what points $c,$ if any, does $\lim _{x \rightarrow c} f(x)$ exist?
c. At what points does only the left-hand limit exist?
d. At what points does only the left-hand limit exist?

$$f(x)=\left\{\begin{array}{ll}{\sqrt{1-x^{2}},} & {0 \leq x<1} \\ {1,} & {1 \leq x<2} \\ {2,} & {x=2}\end{array}\right.$$

Use this scenario: A pot of boiling soup with an internal temperature of 100° Fahrenheit was taken off the stove to cool in a 69° F room. After fifteen minutes, the internal temperature of the soup was 95° F.

Use Newton’s Law of Cooling to write a formula that models this situation.

A pole leans away from the sun at an angle of 7° to the vertical, as shown in Figure 8.28. When the elevation of the sun is 55°, the pole casts a shadow 42 feet long on the level ground. How long is the pole? Round the answer to the nearest tenth.

Precalculus with Limits : A Graphing Approach

Use the graph to determine each limit (if it exists). Then identify another function that agrees with the given function at all but one point.
$g(x)=\frac{-2 x^{2}+x}{x}$
(a) $\lim _{x \rightarrow 0} g(x)$
(b) $\lim _{x \rightarrow-1} g(x)$
(c) $\lim _{x \rightarrow-2} g(x)$
