I have been an educator since 1998, so I have taught sciences such as biology, chemistry, anatomy, zoology, introduction to engineering design (through the PLTW program), introduction to research statistics, as well as research design and development. I have written and published through the Upward Bound Math and Science program at Wichita State University(WSU) for 15 years, approximately 10 textbooks, and critiqued a chemistry book (in 2005). I also worked for the University of Phoenix for 12 years, in the evenings as a side hustle. So, even though I am primarily an educator for public education, many of my side jobs involve university level classroom experience (summers at WSU), university experience with online only classes, creating content for such websites such as "Upworthy" and writing and publishing textbooks.
I have been awarded several nominations and awards for my level of involvement in the educational field, and a couple were awarded while I worked three years for Hutchinson Community College. I was awarded the "Dragon Educator of the Year". I've also been given awards in terms of monetary or materials. For example, in 2018, I received approximately $1000 in classroom materials of which I donated the majority to the school at which I am currently working. I also donate materials from my own account. I have a pencil budget for the students, as well as classroom materials for the students to be able to us, as much as possible. For example, there was a shortage of classroom materials for the general population of students this fall. So, I spent about $100 to refill the specific materials our students needed. Other teachers also donated other items to make up for losses our families have been facing, due to job loss because of Covid.
Last, I've played an integral role in various groups students asked for me to be a sponsor. For example, part of the advanced robotics classes I enrolled and participated at WSU, were post-Masters level classes and they were to help me be a better sponsor for the robotics competition at WSU. I also sponsored Science Olympiad, anime group, and the robotics cheer group. The last year of my involvement with these groups was in 2014.
I have had multiple levels of experience and multiple areas of writing and creating content for online classes, articles and video production through my years of teaching primarily because I truly love teaching and seek to be a better educator through variety of experiences. I love to write and organize and provide the best content possible.
